From Your Program Committee
Ohio River Group 2020 April Update
Greetings from Your 2020 Program Committee,
We wanted to update you all on our thinking about the program this year and inform you of two small books that are required reading just in case you wanted to get started on them.
With the benefit of the work of the taskforce on ORG culture and practices, knowing better we will do better. We cannot give you complete details about the program but want to sketch out for you what we are thinking at this time. We are grateful for those who have taken time from extremely hectic lives to answer the call to participate in November and are sure we will hear from the last few soon.
We do not anticipate any dramatic changes in the timing of our usual schedule. We have asked the ORG Executive Team to lead us in worship on Monday night and cast before us our best ideals and our continuing covenantal agreements. Each day after worship, we will have a paper or pair of dialogical papers in the morning slot as usual. In the two afternoon slots and in aesthetics, we are planning programs that are experiential while still educational with opportunities to process and share. The only change in schedule that we are making is to conclude our topic work with a worship service BEFORE the business meeting and topic selection. We will provide a “check-out” gathering on Thursday morning as well for final thoughts and benedictions.
In all of our work this year, we are maintaining a preference for primary sources and queer voices. We are also asking our presenters to remember the lives of our youth as they prepare papers and experiences.
We are recommending two books as our primary resources this year. You can find that list here.
Sample Schedule
This schedule is a sample based on previous years. The final schedule will be posted prior to our meeting in November once the Historian receives word from the Program Committee.
